- Another petition against depo provera, this one is only for MEN to sign. I created, with the help and prodding of my friend Sandra, a petition against depo provera that is only for the MEN against depo provera.
Sandra and I are both victims of depo provera. We fight the side effects of overexposure to depo provera on a DAILY basis. We also have taken this fight online to help other sufferers and hopefully to help us find a cure to the damage that has been done to us. Unfortunately, currently we are still being ignored. So, Sandra said.. "what if MEN complained?" - This is a Man's world - so let's give it a shot! I want ALL the men; the husbands, the boyfriends, the fathers, the brothers, and all the MALE friends/neighbors of the victims of depo provera to sign this petition!! Perhaps we will get noticed if the MEN speak up. (thx sandra for the wonderful idea - I could not do ANY of this without you!!!)

1992 Depo Provera Press Release (10/29/1992) - This is just infuriating to me! In the press release it clearly states that side effects are period abnormalities and weight gain (which I WAS told)... AND that others may experience "
experience headache, nervousness,
abdominal pain, dizziness, weakness or fatigue.".. (which I WAS NOT told!) I went back to the doctor who was giving me these shots with the muscle weakness, and headaches and asked her if it could be depo provera and she said no. She sent me to a neurologist - I asked him the same thing, he too said no and I continued to take the shots.

This article was written by Robert Carlson. Robert, if you read this, I encourage you to write another article on the horror stories of depo provera.
Dr. Rosser, the source for most of the article, says, and I quote...
"Progesterone increases fluid retention and appetite, and decreases metabolism, so we tell patients this contraceptive may make them hungrier, but we also say gaining weight or not depends on what they choose to eat, and whether they exercise."
Dr. Rossers 'attitude' to weight gain and depo provera makes me sick.
Thinking that if we eat right and excercise we won't gain weight.
I wish Dr. Rosser would have been living and eating with me while
I gained a tremendous amount of weight on depo. I guarantee you
that not only did I eat healthy 7 days a week, but I excercised (walked)
while in immense pain and still continued to gain.

in hell. I am finally (Aug. 2002) getting better. I have been
extremely ill, suicidal from pain often, since the end of 1996.
No doctors drugs were able to help me. In fact, they only made matters
worse. The doctors don't know how to fix what happens to you after depo provera. But I did find a nutritionist that does. She is helping me get well. I am keeping updates of what I am doing to get
well on my message board.
