Below is Marybeth's Story (last name withheld) ( VA | age 25)
My name is Marybeth and I am 25. I went on the depo shot back in 1994 and was
on it for almost two years. I then went off of it with no problems. I decided
to go back on it a year later. In December 1999 I went off again. This time
my husband and I were going to try to have a family so I thought I would
regulate my system.
I knew it could take up to 18 months to get pregnant and
that was fine. What I wasn't prepared for were the horrible side effects of
trying to get off this drug. There is no warning about that.
While on the
shot, I was fine. I had no complaints and would have highly recommended it.
Since Dec. I have has erratic and heavy bleeding(usually every two weeks.) I
have had horrible cramps, I have had to be on drugs like provera,
progesterones, and clomid (and I am still not pregnant).
The worst has been the
emotional upheaval. I have found myself to be so moody and angry. I have lost
all of my patience. I truly feel out of control of myself emotionally and
phyiscally.
I would love information on how to start a class-action lawsuit
in Virginia. Thanks. By the way, don't be fooled if you are on it and
everything is fine. That's how it was for me, too. It wasn't until the second
time I WENT OFF it, that these things began occuring.
